“Hey! I’m not stealing my neighbor’s WiFi, the WiFi is trespassing on my property!”
Andy Stanley
Private Investigators are not above the Law. They must follow most of the same rules that any other civilian does. They cannot jump over walls, walk through closed fences nor peek through windows. They cannot trespass, whether that be digitally or physically. There is also a reasonable expectation of privacy. However, the private investigator has a duty, is licensed to do so, but must remain within the boundaries of the law. With that, there are endless strategies within these boundaries that are used which make for a very efficient and effective private investigator. How? Simply know your limits and your boundaries. That’s it. We continually teach and inform our team case by case. We review every investigation at hand, assign the right investigator for the job, strategize, properly research and plan for a successful investigation to meet the client expectation keeping them informed along the way.
And, sometimes, an investigator comes upon a fence……. And, if you were not invited, it’s not a good idea to open and walk through that fence. If the fence is closed, there’s a reason. In fact, even if you were invited and the fence is closed, your best bet is to wait for the property owner to open it and let you in.

Now, in this case, an investigator comes upon a fence. He stands and looks down the long driveway. No one there. The fence is closed, and he notices a sign on a pole. He reads the sign and wonders. After looking around and seeing nothing, he looks down to the ground on the other side of the fence; and there it is, ferocious and beastly and all 3 lbs. of him; just waiting for the investigator to cross the line and attack…, his ankles… lol. Long story short, we never cross the line.
